There is no better time to learn or build something new than right now. The resources and tools to learn are more accessible than ever before.
This past month, I’ve been deep into developing an iOS app for n-gen. And while there’s more to share about that soon, it’s been a great reminder of how fun—and frustrating—learning and building can be.
Building an app has been a bit of a different beast from building a website. With zero prior iOS dev experience, the learning curve’s been steep.
But I’ve been surprised at how much easier it is to get up to speed these days. Between endless YouTube tutorials and AI tools integrated directly into my development environment, progress feels faster, and I actually know what the hell is going on.
I am learning faster than ever before.
FAFO—fuck around and find out—usually means if you test someone, you’ll learn the hard way. It’s akin to the old adage talk shit get hit.
In my case, FAFO has been more about trial, error, and learning something along the build.
Personally, I like using ChatGPT for brainstorming ideas or system design, and Cursor IDE with Claude Sonnet to help me code. While plenty of people have built their brands around AI workflows, my advice is simple: start with a tool and see what works for you.
Got a site, app, or idea? This is your sign to just start. Use an AI tool to make a plan, dive into some tutorials, and get to building.
And if you’re on the fence about starting something and want to chat, let me know and I’d be happy to help you get started.
Fuck around, find out :D
